Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) Al Islami 2-in-1 Account
Islamic Bank Accounts in Dubai
A hybrid account combining current account convenience (chequebook, unlimited-use debit card, bill pay) with savings-style expected profit, announced quarterly and calculated on the average monthly balance. Profit conditions are set higher than the plain savings account: the balance must stay at or above AED 10,000 on every day of the month and no more than two withdrawals (teller or electronic) are allowed per month, otherwise the account is treated as a current account for that month. Six free teller transactions monthly (AED 10.5 thereafter) and a free first chequebook (AED 26.25 thereafter).
The 2-in-1 is DIB's answer to the salary earner who keeps a five-figure float and hates the idea of a separate savings pot. The design is honest but unforgiving: dip to AED 9,999 for one day, or make a third withdrawal, and the month pays nothing. For disciplined balances it beats splitting money across two accounts, and the chequebook keeps landlords happy. But at AED 10,000+ committed, DIB's own Maximiser Wakala (3.40% expected, 18 months, AED 10,000 minimum) pays real yield for barely less flexibility, so use the 2-in-1 for float you genuinely might spend and Wakala for everything else.
Pros
- Two withdrawals a month allowed before profit is forfeited, double the plain savings account
- Keeps chequebook and bill-pay convenience while earning
- Free monthly e-statements and six free teller transactions
- Shariah certificate downloadable from the page
Cons
- AED 10,000 daily minimum is ten times the savings account threshold, and one bad day zeroes the month
- Expected rate not printed on the page
- Withdrawal counting includes electronic channels, which surprises customers

Shariah Compliance & Oversight
DIB's Internal Sharia Supervision Committee (ISSC) has five members appointed by the 2024 General Assembly for a three-year term ending February 2027, with the appointments approved by the Higher Sharia Authority of the Central Bank of the UAE: Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Rahim Sultan Al Olama (Chairman), Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Elgari (Vice Chairman), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaseem (Executive Member), Prof. Dr. Mohamad Akram Laldin (Member) and Sheikh Prof. Ibrahim Ali Abdulla Al Mansoori (Member). The ISSC independently supervises transactions, activities and products and its report is ratified at the AGM (dib.ae/about-us/leadership-team/ISSC and AGM disclosures, verified 2026-08-05).

Why It's Halal
Like all DIB deposit products, the 2-in-1 Account operates inside a fully Islamic balance sheet, pays expected rather than contractually guaranteed profit, publishes historical profit rates, and links a downloadable Shariah Certificate on the product page. The tighter conditions (AED 10,000 daily floor, two withdrawals) are the pool-management mechanism that lets transactional money coexist with investment balances in one account. Oversight is by the five-scholar ISSC approved by the CBUAE's Higher Sharia Authority. Caveats: the contract is again only named in the certificate PDF, and the current expected rate is not on the page.
