Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) ADIB Current Account
Islamic Bank Accounts in Ajman
ADIB's main transaction account, openable by customers declaring a minimum salary of AED 5,000. Includes a free Visa debit card usable at 500+ ADIB ATMs across the UAE, a free first AED chequebook (AED 25 for additional books), free unlimited teller transactions at 60+ branches including Dana Women's Banking branches and extended-hours mall branches, and account currencies of AED, USD or GBP (ATM card works in AED only). An instant financing facility for cash shortfalls is available to customers with an AED 8,000+ salary transfer. Free monthly e-statements, standing instructions, and the full ADIB digital stack (Mobile App, e-ADIB internet banking, SMS, chat and phone banking).
ADIB's current account is the branch-lover's choice in this cluster: unlimited free teller transactions at 60+ locations (including the Dana women-only branches, a genuine differentiator) against DIB's six-free-then-AED-10.5 model. The AED 5,000 salary requirement is the trade-off - DIB opens its equivalent with an AED 3,000 balance and no salary test, and Emirates Islamic's entry account is thinner still on requirements. Multi-currency support and the AED 25 chequebook are quietly excellent. If you value humans over apps and clear the salary bar, this is the strongest current account of the three banks.
Pros
- Unlimited free teller service is rare; most banks cap free branch transactions
- Multi-currency current account (AED/USD/GBP)
- Dedicated women-only branch network
- Cheap chequebook replenishment at AED 25
Cons
- AED 5,000 minimum salary gate excludes lower-income workers
- Underlying Shariah contract not named on the product page
- ATM card restricted to AED accounts

Why It's Halal
ADIB was incorporated in 1997 by Amiri Decree No. 9 as the first Islamic bank in Abu Dhabi and its memorandum prohibits usury; every product, including this account, operates inside a fully Shariah-compliant balance sheet under the supervision of a five-scholar Internal Shari'a Supervisory Committee whose annual report is published. The current account pays no return, avoiding any interest question on transactional balances. Caveats: the product page does not name the underlying contract for current account balances (ADIB names Mudaraba explicitly on its savings and investment accounts but not here), and the AED 5,000 minimum salary requirement excludes lower earners entirely rather than merely limiting features.
